Surrender

This morning I’m up quite early in the quiet of the house on the last day of school before we transition into summer. I’ve missed you all as I’ve been journeying through these weeks post car accident. The spaciousness I have usually had for writing (among other things) has needed to be allocated to attending multiple appointments each week and managing the still unbelievable amount of paperwork from the accident. I just counted up and it is about eight hours a week I’m spending on all this! I’m happy to say that I am feeling much better overall, thanks to time and many helpful treatments from great healers. 
I geared up to run my Spring Rejuvenation Retreat just one and a half weeks after my crash. The night before it started, I walked across the street on the verge of tears and asked my mom if she could help me think through what to bring. I was having a hard time using my brain for that task which surprised me and it was really helpful to just have someone else to help me think it all through and take action. And yes, my mom and dad live across the street from us, and next door to them are my brother, sister in law, niece and nephew. We’ve got the family compound here, which is pretty amazing.
It was an interesting journey for me to run and facilitate a weekend retreat when I wasn’t 100%. I learned something profound and beautiful from the experience. The energetic and physical “holding of space” I have done for years for such events wasn’t possible for me in my current state and I had to be present and engage as well as let go and surrender. What happened was an opening - an opportunity for the beautiful energy of the attendees to step in and co-create that space holding energy. The result was an amazing and beautiful experience of community in a new way that sparkled with authenticity and deep connection.

A couple days after I arrived home it was time to build the flow for the facilitation experience I was putting together for adidas teams the following week. I could sense that something on my walk with a friend early that day would initiate the flow of energy that I would engage with to create a relevant and intuitively led experience for them. As we were walking, I was drawn to pick up a piece of bark at the base of a massive redwood tree. The moment I touched it, I was amazed by how incredibly light and soft it was and immediately knew this was the theme for the approach: a light soft touch; unwavering strength in the gentle approach. 
And that’s my message for all of us right now. Surrender into a light touch. Let it be soft and gentle knowing that the massive size of our trunks the and strength of our roots will more than hold us steady and will allow space for all the magic of life to blossom.
