Hello Dear One,
Thank you for seeking supportive resources as you navigate your grief journey. You are not alone, and help is available. First, I recommend that you consider finding a therapist that feels right for you and get therapeutic support as a priority over waiting for a long time to find the perfect combination of modalities. I also recommend that you call about availability when possible and write emails as a secondary way to inquire. This will help speed up the process and gain you access ASAP.
Finding a therapist can be a process, so give yourself a good window of time (maybe an hour) and sit with a nice cup of tea or something lovely and calming as you begin. Close your eyes and take a few slow breaths and ask your spirit team to help guide you.
I recommend any combination of the following therapeutic modalities that fits for you, however there are many types and some that are right for you may not be listed here: Somatic Therapy (body centered), Internal Family Systems, Trauma, EMDR, Mindfulness Based.
Local to Portland:
Portland Therapy Center is a great resource! You can search by insurance provider and type of training or what you are wanting treatment or support for: https://www.portlandtherapycenter.com
For any other location:
You can google for example, “Somatic therapists, Austin TX” and can get good results based on that. Try to go to the search results that aren’t “sponsored” first. You can search Psychology Today for any kind of therapy in your area, and likely your google search results will come up with a listing from them. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us
Oregon Crisis Line: Call or text 988 or go to https://www.oregon.gov/oha/hsd/amh/pages/988.aspx
For pets specifically:
Best of luck to you!
